Tumisho Masha is an accomplished actor, presenter and writer, best known for his role as Dumisani Thusong on the soapie Isidingo and for presenting the magazine show Top Billing. He currently stars as Modise Tladi, Itumeleng's wise and principled younger brother on the cusp of a hot career in advertising, in the M-Net soap opera The Wild, since 2011.
Since starting out as a video jock for the youth music channel on DSTV “Channel ‘O’”, Tumisho, who holds the degree BA.Dram (Hons) from the University of the Witwatersrand, has proved himself as a capable and talented performer in all media as an actor, voice artist, television presenter, radio dj, MC and motivational speaker. He hosted the annual South African Music Awards (SAMAS) for the second consecutive year in 2006.
Tumisho starred in the popular SABC3 drama, Isidingo, as Dumisani Thusong, as well as in the international TV series Jozi-H. He has also appeared in numerous other small screen productions, including Gazlam on SABC1, Generations, Fela’s TV on SABC2, Justice for All, and Egoli on Mnet. He has presented on Mnet (as a continuity presenter) and Channel O, and has starred in Theatrical productions in all of Johannesburg’s major theatre complexes including the Market Theatre and The Civic Theatre. He is a busy voice over artist who’s voice has featured in the Vodacom “gimme summa” campaign, MTN “Yello Summa”, KFC, DSTV, TOTAL, JET, Macdonalds and many more. He is a brand ambassador for Carducci and has featured in the print media ad campaign.
Among the many international films Tumisho has appeared in are Beyond Borders (with Angelina Jolie), Red Water (with Louie Diamond Phillips and rapper Coolio), and Doctor Lucille (with academy award winner Louise Gossett, Jnr). He played a supporting role in Drum, as the famous Sophiatown writer and socialite Can Themba.
Tumisho regularly appears in the media on television, radio, magazines and newspapers. He is also considered a style icon after being voted SA's most stylish media personality in the SA style awards and SA’s most stylish actor by readers of YOU magazine for 2005. He has appeared in South African premiere magazines such as Elle, Cosmopolitan, Blink, O magazine (Oprah), @ Home magazine and Top Billing. He has also been on the covers for YOU, DRUM, Ymag, BONA, Foschini club, Jet club, Roots magazine and The Sunday Times magazines. He has been in The Star, The Sowetan, The Sunday Independent, The Sowetan Sunday World, The Mail and Guardian, The Sunday Sun, Beeld, The Natal Tribunal and The Pretoria News.
As a writer and producer Tumisho was a story consultant on “Isidingo”, and “Gazlam” as well a writer for “Fela’s TV”. He was the executive producer and starred in an indie short film entitled “Untilted Axis” which was selected at numerous film festivals around the world and won a bronze for cinematography in a drama at The Visible Spectrum Awards for the South African Society of Cinematographers.
