Thabo Hlongwane

Thabo Hlongwane is a versatile artist who appeals to a wide audience, performing his own unique mix of music from diverse genres, most notably Jazz, Soul/R&B, Blues, Classical and Gospel, in various languages including English, Afrikaans and various other ethnic languages.

Having made his session debut recording the song “My Liefie My Duifie” with top selling artist Steve Hofmeyer, Thabo was invited to perform at Huisgenoot Skouspel (one of the biggest music extravaganzas on the African continent, attracting almost 40000 people over two weekends in Sun City) as well as Skouspel Plus, and has since shared stages with some of South Africa’s biggest names like Kurt Darren, Juanita Du Plessis, Nicholis Louw and Nianell, to name a few. His self-titled debut album was released to critical acclaim in 2005.

Other performance highlights include 

• A-list shows and events like Miss South Africa and Miss Teen SA in 2005
• Singing the national anthem at numerous international sports events and rugby test matches including South Africa vs. England, South Africa vs. Samoa.
• Performing at the opening of Parliament 2006
• Shoprite Checkers year end functions
• Festivals like The Cherry fees, Macufe, Volksblad Kunstefees, Gariep fees, Suidooster fees, Vonk fees, and Bloemskou, to name but a few.

The prominent radio presenter (now turned politician) Niekie Van Den Berg described Thabo as "one of our artists who will become an icon in South Africa because of his ability of bringing together people of all races through his beautiful vocal sounds."
