The only other band to have accomplished this at that time was the Rolling Stones. Also during this period, Steve toured the north of England with his own band as support for Black Sabbath. He has also shared the stage with such people as Tom Jones, Elain Page and Percy Sledge.
In 1982 Steve took up the position of musical director at the Royal Swazi Sun Hotel in Swaziland, an engagement which was to last for four years. After moving to Durban in1987, he joined NAPAC (now the Playhouse Company) as guitar player in the NAPAC Jazz Quartet under the guideance of Graham Scott and the late Geoffrey Sutherland. Here Steve played on many productions, including A man for all seasons, Judy, Seven brides for seven brothers, Queen at the Opera, Sweet charity, Hello Dolly, Elton John, Jesus Christ Superstar, and numerous Philharmonic Rock Shows for which he wrote many of the orchestral scores.

In August 2000 he produced the music for The Woman of the Year Awards for SABC2. Up until June 2006 Steve worked at Marimba Restaurant at the Cape Town International Convention Centre along with singer Denay Willie and a seven-piece band.
Steve's solo work is performed "unplugged" on a Garrido Spanish guitar made in Madrid, and is the perfect accompaniment for a more intimate dining atmosphere at corporate functions, weddings, and other special events.
