South African Youth Choir
Location: Based in Cape TownBiography

The South African Youth Choir is an exciting and groundbreaking choral project which brings together exceptionally talented young singers from across the country. Since its inception in 2005, the choir has been developed into a unique musical product of international standard and won a gold diploma at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod in Wales in 2006.
Hailed by international media as a true and proudly South African export product, the SAYC reflects the real demographics of South Africa and celebrates unity within cultural diversity. The choir embraces the raw talent of South Africa, with many of the members being orphans and/or from disadvantaged areas, being offered a voice and hope. Members are auditioned nationally and accommodated in a hostel in Durbanville, Cape Town. All hostel members attend the Stellenberg High School and are provided with high quality education and music training.
The SAYC frequently performs at Festivals, Private Functions, Corporate Functions, Wedding Receptions, Church Services, Public Events, Cultural Events, and Graduation Ceremonies etc. They are available as a full choir of 70 members (for large-scale performances and concerts), or as smaller ensembles (for weddings, functions etc.). Their repertoire ranges from serious Classical choral works to arrangements of traditional African music sung in Xhosa, Zulu & Afrikaans, as well as more popular options consisting of music by ABBA, etc.
