Since their stunning success in SA’s Got Talent 2009, brothers Willem and Louis van der Merwe have been performing across South Africa, charming audiences with their exceptional voices, interesting stories and diverse personalities.
The brothers excelled as part of the final episode of SA’s Got Talent’s first season. Their achievement had great media interest as a result, with Huisgenoot/You praising: “Il Divo, eat your heart out – these stars of SA’s Got Talent have captivated audiences with their angelic voices.”
They now perform under the name of SILWER, entertaining audiences with songs in the style of artists like Il Divo, Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli, singing local and international music that stood the test of time, as well as new tunes that are sure to linger in the audience's memory. This Proudly South African duo makes the operatic pop genre their own by adding some Afrikaans, English and isiXhosa songs to their operatic pop repertoire which is built around favourte Italian, French and Spanish songs, whilst also drawing inspiration from other genres including Jazz, Classical crossover, ballads, opera, neapolitan songs, and songs from theatre and film.
SILWER has been performing at various venues and occasions, ranging from weddings and concerts, theatres, corporate functions and restaurants, to music festivals like the KKNK and events like the Nederburg Wine Auction and FIFA World Cup. On top of numerous performance highlights, 2011 culminated in the release of their debut album Dream of Me.
SILWER's talent, combined with their high standards of class and entertainment, contributes to an unforgettable experience at any occasion. As their Top Billing feature stated: “We always knew SA had talent… Willem and Louis showed just how much talent.”
