The Rob Blaine Jazz Band, known for its irresistible smooth Jazz, draws on the talents of some of Cape Town's Best in Jazz:

Rob Blaine (Keyboardist)

Rob is the bandleader of this dynamic four- piece jazz band, and has performed with various musicians and bands,  including local artists Jimmy DIudlu, Judith Sephuma and many other top South African musicians.  Apart from being the composer, arranger and keyboardist of the quartet,  Rob is also a practicing sound engineer with his own studio.

Shaun Johannes (Bassist)

Shaun Johannes’ career began at school where he led the singing of hymns at morning assemblies. His first major performance was at the 1999 Jazzathon Festival at the V & A Waterfront and has since advanced his career in leaps and bounds receiving multiple awards and distinctions at the UCT college of Music and many music festivals. He is one of Cape Town’s most in-demand session musicians, and is currently completing his masters degree in Jazz studies from  the UCT College of Music.

Heinrich Goosen (Drummer)

Heinrich Goosen is one of Cape Town’s most in-demand session drummers, having performed in many studios throughout South Africa on several albums. Originally a UCT College of Music graduate, he remains in close contact with UCT where his experience as a professional drummer places him in great demand as a tutor.

Steve Robinson (Guitar)

Like all of the above musicians, Steve Robinson is also held in high esteem as an arranger and performer. He is the musical director of numerous shows that ran at venues that include Spier Wine-farm Estate and the Stellenbosch Amphitheatre. Originally from the U.K., Steve has performed at venues globally and is by far the most-travelled musician in the band, having also performed in theatres on-board international luxury liners for many years.
