Ramaine
Biography







Ramaine is a well-known face across South Africa, wowing theatre and corporate audiences alike with her powerhouse vocals and show stopping performance. Her cabaret act (especially her trademark Tina Turner impersonation) is in high demand within the theatre and special events industry locally and abroad.
This diva started performing on the Cape Town cabaret scene at the tender age of 5, and starred in her first major production, Bugsy Malone, at the age of 9. Ramaine then joined up with Die Kinders van die Ses, a local children’s theatre group with which she toured for four years. At the age of 12, she joined forces with Emo Adams, Alistaire Isobel and Luqmaan Adams to form the group NU FANCY, which toured South Africa along with the Rockets and PJ Powers and went on to record an album.
Performance highlights include:
- Opening act for George Benson and AL Jarreu in 2009
- Playing the role of “Coco Tamara” in the Afrikaans comedy series “Kompleks” for SABC2
- Staging and choreographing productions touring Europe for a Dutch production company
- Starring in various sell-out shows at the Barnyard Theatre; highlights include Glory Days(80's), Born to Run(80's), 60's Revolution, Natural Woman (an all girl show), Yesterday (60's) Beethoven (rock and classical), Hollywood Rocks (music from the movies), Hot Chocolate (Motown), Broadway Rocks (Music from musicals), The Fab Four (Beatles), Mick and Tina (Tribute to Mick Jagger and Tina Turner) and THE BIG 5 (where she again plays Tina Turner)
- Performing alongside Duck Chowles, Wendy Oldfield and Irit Nobel in “ROCK CIRCUS”
- Various Tina Turner shows, the first being “WHATS LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT” (1997)
- Singing lead female vocals in various bands on the nightclub circuit in Cape Town
- Performing with KZNPO in 2008 and 2009
- Working in Dubai for four years, where she directed, staged and choreographed various shows for hotels, theatres and special events. She founded her own promotions company, which involved sending South African bands to the U.A.E. and managing a nightclub at the Arif Castle Hotel.
