Lynne Poulsen
Location: Based in Cape TownBiography

Award-winning singer and pianist Lynne Poulsen is a household name in music circles in Cape Town and beyond, offering a wealth of experience in the entertainment industry and numerous performance options for corporate.
Lynne's passion for music started at around 6 years old, playing piano duets with her Dad on their baby grand. By the time she was 10 she was a guest performer with her Dad's cover band, so it wasn’t surprising that on leaving school she was already playing professionally in venues around Cape Town. After some overseas travel, she enrolled at UCT to study jazz piano and arrangement under the guidance of Prof Mike Campbell, where she performed with the UCT College Big Band, and won the Adcock Ingram music prize for Jazz Vocals.
After graduating from UCT, Lynne travelled to the UK where she performed at the Canterbury Festival with the David Rees-Williams Trio. Back in Cape Town, she started performing around town in top venues such as The Green Dophin, The Dock Road Cafe and Berties Landing. She also started writing and performing shows with her brother Adrian; these included Cole Porter Under Your Skin, The Poulsens Do The Carpenters, and What a Feeling - The Ultimate Eighties Show. Soon after this she played keyboards for Mike McCullagh’s Sixty Something Else, Seventy Something and Beatlymania. In Johannesburg Lynne worked with Richard Loring in Girltalk, a popoular production with which Lynne also toured Malaysia.
In her next project, Lynne again teamed up with her brother Adrian Poulsen, as well as top musicians Judith Sephuma (who was later replaced with Lesego Motsepe), Joe Niemand, Susan Webster, Timothy Moloi, and later Thabo Mdluli, to form the 6 Voices Project. The Vocal Sextet did several high profile performances including The Felicia Show, Bambanani, The Vita Awards, The Woman of the Year Award Ceremony, The Presidential Awards, and The womans Day Celebrations at Loftus Versveld Stadium. They also performed for Prince Andrew Duke of York, on his visit to South Africa.
In 2007 she toured the country with Sarah Theron's production, DIVA RSA, and was also a part of Natural Woman at the Barnyard Theatre, Willowbridge. She heads up The Lynne Poulsen Band for regular performances in and around Cape Town, playing an eclectic mix of jazz and acoustic rock, both originals and covers.
