Loveline Madumo

Loveline Madumo is one of SA’s rising opera stars, especially noted for her work as a member of the Black Tie Ensemble.

An outreach programme about opera presented by PACT Opera inspired Loveline to pursue a career in opera.  Her first professional role was the Strawberry Woman in the State Theatre’s production of Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, followed by the roles of Countess Ceprano in Verdi’s Rigoletto and Marlyn Dirks in Themming’s South African opera, Buchuland.  In 2001 she was part of an ensemble which toured China and performed in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.

She holds a National High Diploma in Performing Arts (Opera) and a Bachelors Degree in Education Technology obtained from the Tshwane University of Technology.  Loveline has studied under the tutelage of Lorraine Haveman, Professor Virginia Davids, and Eric Muller. 

As a member of the critically acclaimed BLACK TIE ENSEMBLE since 1999, Loveline has performed numerous top roles and sang at concerts and events worldwide.  Highlights include:

• Singing the role of Mimi in the Black Tie Ensemble’s production of Puccini’s La Bohème to critical acclaim.
• Four concerts in Austria with the support of the Department of Arts and Culture - three of which took place in the city of Graz, and one in Vienna 
• Performances in Japan at the AICHI World Expo 2005 in Nagoya, as well as at the South African Embassy in Tokyo.
• Performing for Mrs Mbeki in Pretoria
• Performing at the 9th International Investment Council Meeting hosted by President T M Mbeki
• Singing the title role in Puccini’s Tosca during BTE’s Four Opera Vignettes production
• A special performance at Tuynhuys during the Presidential Banquet in honour of Mr and Mrs Kofi Annan in 2006
