Guitar virtuoso extraordinaire Louwtjie Rothman burst onto the South African music scene during 2009's SA's Got Talent, reaching the final top 6 with a percussive acoustic guitar solo.
Louwtjie, who has been playing guitar since the age of 11, cites his influences as being artists like John Mayer, Danny Elfman, Robert Johnson and local SA guitarist Wayne Bosch, and various styles including jazz and pop/rock. He has shared stages and collaborated with big South African names such as Jax Panik, Francois van Coke, Die Heuwels Fantasties, Hugo Brand, New Holland etc, and has performed at numerous top events and festivals, with Die Burger Pops and Afri Klassiek being personal highlights.
Although mostly known as a guitarist, Louwtjie is also a singer/songwriter. He recently completed a pop/rock EP "Kiss me like you mean it", on which every instrument, as well as vocals, were performed by himself. In 2007, at the age of 16, Louwtjie started the Afrikaans rock band "Ben Nevis", launching 3 music videos on MK, the second of which, "Die gevoel verduidelik", went to number 1 on the MK top 10 videos.
Apart from being a sought-after session musician and live performer at corporate functions, festivals and shows, Louwtjie has also started his own music school which he runs from home.
