Likhwezi Arts Project, established by PAMELA MTATI in February 2003, combines song and dance from a variety of Southern African Cultures, accompanied by marimba, drums & percussion. The Project has a strong teaching leg, presenting dance & music to the children from its own disadvantage community.
Likwezi (Meaning "morning star"), has been involved in many different productions locally & internationally, as performers and African music and dance teachers. The group's members are talented, versatile and experienced; with some members having been performing since the early 1980's, and have vast experience and qualifications from, a.o. the University of Cape Town. To broaden their skills they have worked with highly recognized artist such as Alfred Hinkel of Jazzart, Paul Ramalley of UCT, and many local & international artists.
Performing at private and corporate functions remains a special experience for many young performers of the LIKHWEZI Project, and the group takes extreme pride in entertaining audiences from different cultures.
