Julie Hartley

Julie Hartley is an experienced performer, who has, apart from starring in numerous theatre musicals and screen productions, featured in many corporate extravaganzas and shows in Cape Town and Johannesburg,  for companies like Toyota, ABSA, Nissan, Daimler Chrysler, Alfa, Opel Corsa, IBM, Altron, PEP, Alcatel and M-tel, to mention but a few.  Julie can perform as a soloist, part of a jazz trio and part of a 12 piece brass band, and is especially popular for her fabulous Marilyn Monroe impersonation act!

Born in East London, Julie's theatrical career was launched at the age of 16, when she was chosen to perform as singer and dancer in the chorus of Singin' in the Rain.  The following year, whilst in matric, she played the title role of Cinderella, and has since gone on to build up an enviable track record of leading roles in South African musicals.  She has played Guinevere in Camelot, Gigi in Gigi, Sandy in Grease, Laurey in Oklahoma!, Polly and Patsy in Crazy for You, Barbara Winters in Summer Holiday, Nancy in Oliver! and Ellie in Showboat.  The most challenging role in this genre for Julie was playing Marilyn Monroe in Marilyn Live!

Screen credits include featured cameo roles in Egoli, Sinbad, Suburban Bliss, Going Up, 27 Honeystreet, and Place of Lions and Streaks.  Julie landed her first leading role in a feature film in 1994 in the naughty South African comedy Lipstick Dipstick, and now has seven more leading roles to her credit, shot and released locally and internationally.  Amongst these are The Eastern Bride (shot in South Africa and the Far East) and Merlin - The Return (released in the United Kingdom).  Other leading roles include Hitchhiker, Storms of the Heart, The Little Unicorn, Crime of Love, and Hooded Angels.
