Jason Hartman
Location: Based in JohannesburgBiography

Since his 2009 victory as the joint-winner of Idols, the most celebrated reality contest in the country, Jason Hartman has rightfully earned his spot in the limelight of the South African entertainment industry. With sell-out concerts countrywide as well as international performances, such as opening for USA Idols winner Kelly Clarkson, entertaining the Prince and Princess of Monaco’s guests during their wedding festivities and rocking the crowd at the Monaco Grand Prix 2011, this singer-guitarist has audiences everywhere begging for more.
Hartman’s predominantly self-penned debut album “On The Run” (Sony Music 2009) has enjoyed enormous success, two songs of which became number one hits on all major national radio stations almost overnight. His style, fundamentally rock with a South African flavour, has widespread appeal and the ability to get any party started.
Although seemingly bursting unannounced onto the music scene in 2009, Jason has in fact been performing at venues and for corporate functions across South Africa for over a decade. As a young teenager, Jason, his brother and their father formed a trio as a means of financial survival as a family - humble beginnings which have earned him his “street cred” and moulded this star’s congenial, down-to-earth attitude. Hartman still performs with his father (guitar) and brother (drums and vocals) – a sensational live act polished from years of rehearsing, playing and touring together.
Jason recently turned his hand to acting with a leading debut role in A Million Colours, a South African/Canadian production released late 2011, as well as recording for the sound track to the animated movie, Jock, based on Sir Percy Fitzpatrick’s novel Jock of the Bushveld, released in July 2011.
When not rocking up a storm on stage, Jason feeds his passion for gardening and community development. As head of The Men Of Trees, an NGO which focuses on sustainability and environmental awareness, he is helping to educate underprivileged people all over the country on how to plant crops in order to feed their families.
