Biography

Jacques Terre’Blanche grabbed the attention (and hearts) of many South Africans during Idols 2003, where he finished third overall, and has never looked back.

Jacques, who studied Music and Jazz at the University of Cape Town, recorded his first album “EQ” with Dave Thompson and the Sony BMG Team. His single 'Endlessly' was nominated for a SAMA Award and in the same year was awarded the Crystal Award in the category ‘Best Male Newcomer – music/stage/screen’.  His second album ‘The Colour Red’, backed by Gallo Records, had in excess of 4 number 1 hits, and was nominated for a SAMA in the category ‘Best Pop Album’.  Unlike the first album which had a Jazzy feel, 'The Colour Red' has an R&B/Funk flavour, and boasts tracks with international star Akon.

With timeless songs such as I Won't Forget, Natural Born Hustla, The Heist and Set Me Free still being heard on radio, 2010 and 2011 have seen Jacques release two very successful singles, one being a reworked version of Do For Love where he collaborated with Block & Crown, and a duet with Jackie Jackson, the late Micheal Jackson's brother, on We Know What's Going On. This track features a haunting spoken verse by the king of pop himself.  Jacques' most recent single Hot Teasing, produced by Mark Beling of Mean Mr Mustard fame, is currently receiving airplay across the country.  2012 sees Jacques embark on a new direction and new album that is stripped down to basics, focusing on his incredible vocal capabilities and containing elements of new-age swing and jazz.

This talented singer has also played the part of Andy Gibb in Carnival City's musical tribute to the Bee Gee’s, and took part in ‘Swing Sisters’ at Carnival City alongside Loyiso Bala, Bianca Le Grange and Gloria Bosman.  He collaborated with Mark Beling (Mean Mr Mustard) in the single ‘Everytime’ and has performed at the charity concert of ‘The Unite of the Stars’ with international talent such as Will Young, Marcus Hernandez, Ronan Keaten and Shayne Ward.   In theatre, Jacques performed the male lead, of Dick in the production of Debbie Does Dallas staring Caprice and Tanya Van Graan at the Civic Theatre in February 2007, and enjoyed a three month run as the guest artist in Janice Honeyman’s hit Pantomime, Pinocchio at the Johannesburg Theatre.

In addition, Jacques has established his own Recording Studio where he scouts, writes and records for upcoming SA Talent, and produces Voiceovers and jingles for the corporate sector. This aspect of music sees Jacques spreading his interests towards producing, whilst still concentrating on his career as a solo artist.
