Ike Moriz

International Jazz & Pop star, singer, producer & actor IKE MORIZ has received wide acclaim for his 11 albums ranging from original melodic indie Rock/Pop to Latin/Easy Listening & Jazzy Swing.  His songs have been played in 17 countries worldwide, reaching No.1 in the UK, Holland, South Africa & Germany. Ike has acted in many major international feature films such as ‘Alfie’, ‘Shanghai Knights’ and ‘Love Actually’, and he appeared in local TV programs like ‘Showbiz Report’, ‘Top Billing’ & ‘Backstage’, as well as UK TV series ‘Eastenders’, ‘Family Affairs’ and ‘The Bill’ et al. Rock legend David Bowie awarded Ike’s songs repeatedly as ‘top song of the month’ on his web site!

‘South Africa’s own indie pop idol’ (The Citizen, Cape Argus), who was described in US media as “Bowie without the glam meets Oasis without the self-importance teamed with UK chart alternative without the boredom”, studied music and acting in South Africa, Germany and Holland after a jet-setting childhood. The versatile singer, actor, producer and songwriter spent five years in London, fronting rock bands, performing in musicals and running his own label Mosquito Records London, before returning to South Africa in 2005. He was voted one of the top five singers in SA in 2006, and featured in the August 2006 edition of Cosmopolitan magazine as a "Hot talent".

Ike is the resident entertainer at 3 of the most prestigious ‘5 star’ hotels in Cape Town (including the stunning Cape Grace). His songs have taken the SA radio charts by storm while his music videos are receiving extensice airplay SA TV channels. Ike and his band of top session musicians have performed at all major venues in Cape Town and Johannesburg (e.g. Kirstenbosch, City Hall, Waterfront Amphitheatre, FTV, Back2Basics, Blues Room, Green Dolphin, Rainbow Room etc.),  and he has shared stages with many top SA artists, including Judith Sepuma, The Parlotones, Arno Carstens, Prime Circle, Stealing Love Jones, etc.  He is sponsored by Cape City Volkswagen & top UK fashion designer JAGADI Haute Couture.

Ike is currently promoting his brand-new original Pop/Rock album (Breathing Dreams - 2011) while recording an extensive double CD Swing/Jazz release for 2012 (CD2 with voice & piano only and CD1 with band & vocals).
