The Hungarian Trio is one of Cape Town's most sought-after instrumental ensembles, offering inspired live entertainment with music ranging from the relaxing and soothing to the vibrant and upbeat. The group consists of top European musicians who perfected their art in Central Europe, and are now proud to call Africa their home!
Particularly popular for their ability to stroll, the flute, violin and double bass trio creates an elegantly convivial atmosphere with romance and excitement when charmingly serenading guests Hungarian-style. Their extensive repetoire can be customised per event, and allows the trio to accompany any occasion, however large or small. For weddings, they offer inspiring music for the ceremony and delightful entertainment for the pre-drinks and reception.

Members
Nerina Von Mayer (flute)
Nerina studied in Cape Town, Vienna and London, and is currently Head of Flute at UCT. She has also been Alternate Principal in the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra and CTPO for 16 years. Nerina has performed as soloist with the CTSO and CAPAB orchestras, she records for the SABC and is a well-known recitalist and chamber musician.
Gabor Jeney (violin)
Gabor was born in Hungary and studied in Budapest at the Bela Bartok Conservatoire, as well as London's Royal College of Music. He recorded Britten's "Gemini Variations" Decca and BBC before touring Europe and the USA. After holding a CTSO principal post for 16 years he is now one of Cape Town's best known freelance violinists.
Donat Pellei (double bass)
Donat studied at the Franz Liszt Academy, winning the Franz Liszt Double - Bass Prize in 198, and receiving two Performing Diplomas with distinction. Donat toured Europe with 3 Hungarian orchestras before joining the CTSO and CTPO as Sub-Principal Bass, and now actively teaches and performs at various events and concerts.
