Flipside is a highly popular Durban-based function band, headed by the well-known multi-instrumentalist Martin Sigamoney.
Martin, who has extensive experience in the music industry, performs on saxophone, flute, piano, keyboards and vocals, and has worked with the likes of Shirley Bassey, Jonathan Butler, Stevie Wonder, Anany Singh and Mario Monteregge. He recently produced and performed on, internationally acclaimed saxophonist Andrew Young's Christmas album. Other performance highlights include shows such as Philharmonic Rock, Sax Appeal, Concert Fever, the Benny Goodman and Tommy Dorsey Show, Rumba in the Jungle, and The Guitar that Rocked the World. Martin has also performed in Singapore, where former president and international icon Nelson Mandela was amongst the delegates present.
Instrumentation
Flipside can be anything from a one- to a five-piece band, with the following configurations available:
- Five-piece: Saxophone, keyboard, drums, bass and female vocals
- Four-piece: Saxophone, keyboard, drums and female vocals
- Three-piece: Saxophone / keyboard, drums, and vocals
- Two-piece: Saxophone and keyboard / vocals
- One man band (Martin): Saxophone, keyboard and vocals
