Double Jeopardy

Double Jeopardy is a versatile duo who is at their best playing laid-back background sets of their favourite covers from artists such as Michael Bublé, Billy Joel, John Mayer and James Blunt, amongst others.  Their large and varied repertoire also includes anything from ballads to rock 'n roll to suit a variety of audiences and events.

Members Nigel Martindale (electric & acoustic guitars and keyboards) and Pete Marais (vocals) have been part of the local music scene for the past 20 years.  The duo has particular appeal for events where guests want to converse without the music drowning them out, or sit back, relax and enjoy listening to good music played well.

Formed in 2007, Double Jeopardy performs regularly to appreciative audiences around Cape Town. They entertain the festive fans at Kelvin Grove’s Poolside Bar after most major rugby matches at Newlands, and have also played regular Friday night slots at the Alphen Hotel and Groote Constantia’s Simons Restaurant, as well as Sunday afternoons at The Range.  They have performed at many functions including weddings, birthday parties (40th – 60th), bar mitzvah’s, fund raisers and other social events.

Breaks are kept short to sustain the party mood. Being a duo, they only require a small footprint for their equipment (sound equipment and basic lighting), all of which they provide themselves.  The duo’s live sound is supplemented with backing tracks developed and mastered by themselves to enhance their interpretation of the music.
