Dave Holland has become one of Johannesburg's most in-demand saxophone players since arriving from the UK in 2006. He is often seen performing across the country or on TV with well known artists including Loyiso, Danny K, Emanuel Castis and Timothy Moloi.
Away from the busy session industry, Dave draws upon extensive international experience to support the desired atmosphere and event brief when performing solo in more intimate settings including elite corporate events, cocktails and weddings.
Born in the UK and educated at the prestigious Birmingham Conservatoire, Dave has performed across the globe with a variety of ensembles and artists. By the age of 16, he had performed at London's 'Royal Albert Hall', 'Queen Elizabeth Hall', 'Royal Festival Hall' and on BBC1, BBC2, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio Five Live. By the age of 20, he had performed at the world famous 'Ronnie Scott's' with legendary trumpeter Randy Brecker, and was touring with his original music released through the London-based label; 'Acid Jazz Records'.
South African Noteworthy Performances
Highlights include:
- Toured with Jason Hartman as support for Kelly Clarkson
- performed at the '2010 SAMA's' (South African Music Awards) for the featured artists
- Invited to join the 'FIFA 2010 Kick-Off Concert' house band during the international broadcast and in the run up to the 2010 FIFA World Cup, performing with John Legend, The Black Eyed Peas, Hugh Masekela and the Soweto Gospel Choir to a TV audience of over 1.5 billion people.
In the corporate environment, Dave has provided entertainment for eTV, Discovery, Nedbank, ABSA, Vodacom, as well as numerous other top local and international businesses. He has done so as a solo artist, as frontman for small or larger ensembles or performing with DJ's.
