Cheryl de Havilland

Cheryl de Havilland was born in London and started the cello at the age of 8. At the age of 11 she won a bursary to study at the Royal College of Music.
She came to South Africa for the Inauguration of the Pretoria State Opera House, and to Cape Town later in the same year as Co-Principal Cellist with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra. She later moved to the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra where she played for 10 years.
Cheryl has extensive experience playing chamber music and is a member of the cello sextet I Grande Violoncellisti. She has given concerts in London, the Netherlands, Germany, Chilli, the Canaries and China, as well as in the Grahamstown National Arts Festival, and she performs extensively in the Western Cape.
She has played for artists such as Pavorotti, Josh Groban, Jimmy Dludlu and many others. Cheryl is also an established cello teacher and has been studying Jazz on the cello at UCT.
