History
The daughter of South African Rocker, Dave Ornellas from the 70's rock band ‘Hawk’, Beshara started performing at the tender age of 11. From the moment she stepped onto the stage, she knew that she was born to be an entertainer and has been doing so ever since. At 16, her family recorded an album, ‘Dave and Family’, and spent four months travelling and performing around Scandinavia, Italy, Portugal, the UK, Australia and the USA. Beshara and her brother Daniel started their first band 'Free' when she was 17, performing across South Africa. At 18 she took first prize in the Hard Rock Cafe competition, 'Stairway to the Stars', where she competed as a solo artist against various bands and other artists. She used her prize money to record her album ‘Beshara’.
After school, Beshara moved to the United States for a year. Upon her return, aged 21, her and her brother started the band 'Naked Lyric', which has significant success touring South Africa and the UK. Naked Lyric had a few songs on rotation on 5fm with 'Bite my tongue' reaching no 12 on the ‘Top 40’, they were nominated for a SAMA for 'best newcomer', and won the Cape Town “Battle of the Bands”. Beshara decided to go solo when the band disbanded, with her brother having settled in Nashville, USA.
