Location: Based in JohannesburgBiography

Singer, actress and television presenter Aya burst onto the South African entertainment scene in 2005, when she reached the Top6 on Idols South Africa and subsequently landed a recording contract with Sony Music SA.
Her 2007 debut album A state of Aya turned Aya into a household name in music circles, with her singles, Ngiyak'dabukela and As a Woman receiving widespread radio play and acclaim. Aya soon became in demand as a live performer, gracing various Jazz and corporate stages with her unique blend of SA jazz and adult contemporary.
Her success broadened to the screen genre in 2008, when she was chosen to present Soul Sundays on SABC1, followed by a role in daily SABC2 soapie Muvhango in 2009/10.
Aya, who holds a degree in Music and Drama obtained from University of Kwazulu Natal, is an active representative for women's rights and the fight against the abuse of women and children. Her single As a Woman actively addresses issues pertinent to women. The song was written by Aya while she was studying, and became a hit on her debut album, clearly signalling how well she connects with her listeners through a strong value system.
Aya's latest album (2011 release) features some of South Africa's leading composers, writers and guest artists. The album is young, contemporary, sexy and new age. Her single "Ngithathe" produced by RJ Benjamin is receiving good radio rotation across the board, and has a regular presence on Kaya's Top40.
