Andre Janse van Vuuren

André Janse van Vuuren (pianist & accordionist) was a member of the South African Defence Force Entertainment units as a pianist, accordionist and arranger for many years. He left to persue a solo career while completing his studies, and partook with great success in the ATKV Crescendo Competition with his own compositions.  He has recorded for the SABC and under leading labels such as Sony, Select and Vonk.

André has performed with many top South African artists, including Mynie Grove, Lance James and Clive Bruce, at most of Cape Town's main venues, and at more than 1600 corporate events, festivals, private functions and concerts countrywide.  During the Bloemfontein Volksblad Kunstefees 2006 he performed in the award winning production Altyd Jonker,  a show based on the life of South African poet, Ingrid Jonker.  In the same year he was also invited to perform at the launch of South Africa’s first ever Bollywood film production in South Africa.

He plays on an authentic muzette accordion, specially suited for French café music. André distinguishes himself from other artists not only by his high standard of performance, but also because of his mobility and ability to move around while playing to create an intimate atmosphere.
